We Recycle
Part of our mission is to be a good steward of the Earth that God has given to us. With this to guide us we are always looking for new ways to reuse, recycle, or avoid unneccesary usage alltogether. Your thoughts, ideas and prayers are always welcome.
- Old cell phones - you can drop them off here at Mission Central - they are sent to a recycling center in Oklahoma and we receive payment in return
- Steel - recycled with Tristate Recycling - they have placed a dumster onsite! The computer ministry recycles unfixable computers and keeps them out of a landfill
- We have a relationship with 1-800-GOT-JUNK who provides us with a no-cost dumpster in return for giving them a dumster placement in the Mechanicsburg area saving them unneccesary miles and wasted fuel
- Cardboard boxes - we send all of ours to Adams County Rescue Mission
- Glass - also sent to Adams County
- Plastics - recycling with Old Trail Industries
- Aluminum - recycling with Old Trail Industries
- Greeting cards - we take old greeting cards and cut out the pictures to be used in making a new card to go in all of our Mission Central kits
- Paper grocery sacks - we collect for Bethesda to use in bagging groceries
- Empty ink jet cartridges - recycled with Cartridge World in Mechanicsburg
- All of the materials that go into our kits is donated
A pastor from Maryland once told me that he thought of Mission Central in this way:
"If Mission Central were butchers, they would not only use the whole pig, they'd even use the OINK!"
