History

Mission Central is the mission warehouse of the Susquehanna Conference of the United Methodist Church. Our partners include other United Methodist conferences in the Northeast Jurisdiction as well as a host of denominational and nondenominational mission groups in southcentral Pennsylvania. Since our beginning in June 2002, Mission Central has hosted thousands of volunteers who come to Mission Central to experience being "the hands and feet of God" in service. With our volunteers, we process United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) "Relief Kits" for use around the world, provide all types of needed supplies for local and national ministries, and assist many projects that are sending God's love around the world.Working in concert with other denominational and nondenominational programs, we have sent medical supplies, educational supplies, and daily living supplies and equipment to destinations such as Africa, Argentina, Kenya, Belarus, and other areas where the needs are great. Our work in disaster response has provided aid for people affected by every major weather event since 2003.

As a ministry of the Susquehanna Conference of the United Methodist Church, Mission Central is governed by a 27 member Board of Managers elected annually by the Susquehanna Annual Conference. We are a separate entity, connected to the Susquehanna Annual Conference through the Conference Council on Ministries with membership on the Conference Board of Global Ministries. Mission Central conducts its activities within the social principals of the denomination.
